Arguments for and against essays

Banning smoking in all public places

Over the last few years many people in the World have had the habit of smoking in all places. For that reason some governments have implemented the banning of smoking in public places. The purpose of this essay is to discuss the arguments for and against of this banning.

One point in favor is that researches have generated evidence that secondhand smoke causes the same problems as direct smoking, including lung cancer, cardiovascular disease and lung ailments such as emphysema, bronchitis and asthma. Therefore non-smokers are exposed to the same carcinogens as active smokers and banning smoking in public places can be a solution for this big problem.

On the other hand, one argument against banning smoking in public places is that not for all is convenient. For example: first, laws to prevent smoking in bars will not be effective because of the culture in our society; second, the general public will not accept smoke-free bars and restaurants; and third, smoke-free laws will cause bars and restaurants to lose money.

Summing up, I think that this banning can control some issues in the human health and more if we are talking about the passive smokers but; in this process, the governments are going to find some problems which will need to be solved by implementing new laws in order to deal with this issue.

Pros and cons of Embryonic Stem Cell Research

Stem Cells are cells that can be developed into many different types of cells such as muscle cells, brains cells or blood cells. A lot of scientist researches and medical professionals have made the embryonic stem cell therapy process to understand and help human development but, however, there are some arguments for and against about this research that will be exposed in this essay.

Some of the pros of stem cell researchers are that scientists can learn about how we are made up and try to reverse problems in this stage such as cancer and birth defects.

Another argument in favor is that we are learning how to grow tissue to use for medical reasons. If they keep progressing in their studies, scientists will be able to cure illness such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases, among others.
But, on thee other hand, some of the cons of stem cell researchers are that to develop a cell line scientists have to use embryonic stem cells witch are taken from embryos that are about one week old (this means that the baby will not live). So a life is lost in order to save others.

Some staunch pro-lifers regard the destruction of the blast cyst (which is a laboratory – fertilized human egg). These pro-lifers believe that is immoral to destroy a few-day-old human embryo, even to save or reduce suffering in existing human life.

Summing up, we can conclude that many of these researches are important to expand adult life but, I don’t agree with that if this means ignore the many moral issues involving the use of human embryos. So scientists will have t find a way to do this well in order to the human’s salvation.

Invention cause-effect essay

EFFECTS OF EXPOSING LONG TIME IN A COMPUTER

Computer, nowadays, is indispensable for our lives. However (according to a Japanese research) being exposed to a computer screen for a very long period of time, can be harmful for human health. The purpose of this essay is to discuss the tree main effects of this behavior in our personal lives.

The major effect, found by Japanese researches, reflected that people who spend the most time in front of a computer screen suffer most from such symptoms as back pain, anxiety and insomnia. People with the worst symptoms spent five or more hours a day computer-bound. This kind of addiction makes that our organism creates dependence of a screen and it can never take off her. For example the office workers that spends in average 40 minutes at day on unnecessary e-mail, or young people that chatting all day on their messenger. As a result, this addiction can produces seriously problems to our psychologist and physical efficiency of human body.

The second main effect is how people begin to be sedentary. The computers fans stop to practice any exercise, they not even go to the kitchen to get ready something of eating because that removes them time in front of the screen; their muscles begin to suffer nuisances, like the “tunnel of carpio” on hand created by the use of the mouse. Therefore, we have to realize that there are more forms to amusing our time and that, if is too necessary the use of computer, we can take some hours to relax our muscles and improve other kind of activities.

The most significant effect of exposing long time in a computer is that we distance from people without our realizing. The possibilities that offer for example the Internet, makes that people prefer to stay in front of a computer screen that sit down to eat with their family. This behavior, limit time spent with family and friends in favor of the PC. Consequently, a person prefers to communicate with others across the computer instead of call them or invite to drink a couple of coffee.

All things considered, can be a serious problem for our lives. We have to remember that computer is one of the most important inventions in the twenty century, but its wrong use can be generate biggest replies in the organism and in the environment. Most important of all, it can produce psychologist and physical complaints. And, as a result for all, it can take us to move away from people that more we love.

My essays

Graham and Krolopp

There are a lot of inventors that have contributed to the communication’s development. In this essay I’m going to talk about two people Alexander Graham Bell and Rudy Krolopp, the first more famous and grateful than the second one, but at the end, both have been considered as the creators of the most extraordinary inventions that nowadays are fundamental tools for our culture.

The principal differences of these two characters are that Alexander Graham Bell was born in Edimburg, Scotland in 1847 and died in 1922 while Rudy Krolopp was born in the United States of America in 1932 and still lives with 74 years. The first one is considered an eminent scientist, inventor and innovator, and the second is an engineer (but not for this, he is excluded inside the inventors of the world). We can found a lot of information of Graham’s family, but the facts of Krolopp are very scarce. For example: In the case of Alexander, his family had a big importance for their life, his father, grandfather and brother were associated with the work on elocution and speech because of his mother and wife deafness. But, unfortunately, we can not know if the family was an ingredient for the Krolopp work.

However, Alexander and Rudy have big similarities: both discovered their inventions working hard and experiencing with the little thing that they had to disposition in their house or in the work. Graham researches on heaving and speech further led him to experiment with hearing devices that eventually culminated in the first U.S patent of the telephone in 1876. Krolopp, on the other hand, worked in Motorola Company in 1972 when his boss called him and told him that he had to create a “cellphone”, but he didn’t really know what that device was. Finally, Krolopp designed the Motorola Dyna TAC8000X, the first model of cellphone in the world. Moreover, none of both escapes to curious data in their life: When Graham Bell died, all telephones at U.S kept a silent minute in tribute to the man that had made possible their communication. The cellphone model of Krolopp was presented in 1983, nicknaming “the brick”.

These inventors discovered with their talent, two of the most important devices for the world: as much the telephone as the cellphone allows people to be in contact and to develop the sense of the communication. Both inventors worked hard in their specialties until they were able to create the ‘unimaginable’ and to pass to the history.

Science: Inventors and their inventions

The main topic for this blog is the most important inventors and inventions, and, in my case, how their role has been in the development of my career, Social Communication.

The media has always made part of the science's history. From the telephone until the Internet, going by television and, of course, the press; all these types of communication have been used by the journalist to maintain informed the people. Without counting the things that were invented before and the brains that made them reality.

what is an inventor?

Is that person that think in the humanity progress and advantages. They give answers to many things in the world, and try to please the human mind and the necessities of the society. For a lot of time, these characters have created wonderful things, only with what the mother nature has offered them.

What is an invention?

Is a new thing, a new object or a new idea. Someone create a new form, a composition of matter that make human life more easy and please the brilliant minds. Some of theme are based on pre-exinsting processes or ideas, but always somebody have a new contribution that develops the knowledge and human experience.

The important of science

Most inventors and inventions have made an effort to discover and to increase the human understanding and the forms how people live. They resort to different methods like the phisical evidence or natural phenomena to collect data, or with a less exact and more human formula: the communication. We have as a examples the stadistics, the experimental communities and the society in general, because all us are part of the science.
